[Before getting into the post regarding what cruelty-free cosmetics are available in India, my article is dedicated to all those people who have either little knowledge or completely-no knowledge about the makeup industries. I have made an attempt to spread awareness through my blog post. If you don’t know about these industries, I would prefer you to read my post from the beginning or else you can simply skip to the actual heading “List of cosmetics options available in India“]

Kind Transition: Finally realizing that animals are uselessly harmed and that we have the power to save them from their gloom.

Actual Problem: Ditching animals off my plate is easy but what about the makeup brands! I love doing makeup and can’t dismiss them.

What to do?

Humans have no doubt made advances in their knowledge and scientific inventions but we humans do have some dark side of the testing process that has always been kept intentionally confidential.

Approximately 100,000-200,000 animals suffer and die just for cosmetics every year. The animals who are considered fit for testing- rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, and mice sometimes kitties as well. While dogs and monkeys are never used to test cosmetics anywhere in the world, they are used to test other types of chemicals.

People like me, who can’t tolerate animal sufferings should know how to stop this torture instantly.

Why animals are used for cosmetic testing?

According to “humans,” animal testing is important to look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards, such as cancer or birth defects. Of course, human life is important but other creatures too need their peace of life!

Animal testings are done by rubbing chemicals onto shaved skins or into the eyes of animals, they are subjected to repeated oral force-feeding to see any lethal reaction.

Animals are forced to swallow massive amounts of a test chemical to determine the dose that causes death. These tests cause considerable pain and distress including blindness, swollen eyes, sore bleeding skin, internal bleeding and organ damage, birth defects, convulsions, and unfortunate death.

Pain relief is not provided (as it is quite obvious because testers want to see how animals are reacting on the doses) and at the end of a test, the animals are killed, normally by asphyxiation, neck-breaking or decapitation.

That’s a horrible scene!

Why the hell companies need to test on animals?

Companies do have the choice to go with testing on animals!

When companies are insisted on getting their “new ingredients” on the market, it’s at that time when companies tests on animals. New ingredients don’t come up with safety data- because they’re new!

These new ingredients must pass the test to ensure “safe to use” for humans- which means new animal testing.animal testing, choose cruelty free cosmetics, animal torture

Why can’t companies stick to a non-cruelty method while testing a product

  • Lack of non-animal test methods.
  • Development of non-animal tests simply hasn’t been seen as a priority.
  • Development of new non-animal methods takes time.
  • Because of the convention of carrying a tradition.
  • Some countries like China needs to be tested on animals before getting the product in their market where animal testing is still required by law.

What’s the way then?

After reading this, you must be wondering, what’s the way then to ditch animal cruelty from cosmetics as these companies need to continue their norms.

Just think about how cruelty-free brands are creating their products.

How do they do without testing on animals!

If companies simply stuck to using the thousands of existing cosmetic ingredients available, they would never have to test on animals. That’s how cruelty-free companies work!

As the Demands for new ingredients increases, so does the demands for testing on a new innocent creature increases.

Every animal cruelty is completely based on demands. When we demanded, products are sold. If we STOP demanding, products won’t be sold.animal torture, choose cruelty free cosmetics, crulety free brands

Cosmetic companies have the power to stop animal testing-

  • By manufacturing the cruelty-free ways.
  • Using the thousands of ingredients with a long history of safe use.
  • Making use of a growing number of advanced non-animal safety tests.

If demands for cruelty-free makeup products increases, then the pressure for creating advanced non-animal techniques would also increase.

That’s being so simple!

The change will start with YOU!

If you choose a cruelty-free product then you are saving two rabbits (including other animals) from being tortured.

List of cosmetics options available in India

These companies and brands on this list are those commonly found in India. However, it’s always safe to check by yourself if the product does offer cruelty-free makeup ingredients.

Look for these tips while shopping for any cosmetics.

Identifying your cosmetics-

  • Look for cruelty-free certification- Leaping Bunny, CCF Rabbit, Caring Consumer by PETA.
  • Look for these symbols.
  • Read the description of the products carefully. If any product says we don’t test on animal BUT WITH EXCEPTION. It’s better to leave the product. “With exception” brands do tests on animals.
